Remember: students can attend for free, but need to reserve a ticket in advance. Faculty and staff can reserve discounted tickets for themselves. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27 - Saturday, March 1, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, March 2.

Hello Beloiters! It’s another jam-packed week of events, including the Ivan Stone lecture and Chelonia dance performance, so make sure to plan accordingly!

If you’re already involved or interested in getting involved in one of Beloit’s five schools, this week might be a good time to attend events associated with each of their topics: business, public service, the arts, health sciences, or sustainability.

  • Swimming and diving competed in the Midwest Conference Championship from Thursday to Sunday. Diver Helena Harrison ’25 was once again the 1 M diving champion. The Bucs also broke three school records including Jeremy Mueller ’27 in the 100 back (50.69), Lydia Nordgren ’28 in the 50 freestyle (24.04), and the women’s 200 Freestyle Relay team (1:42.93). We are still awaiting results from day four.
  • Women’s basketball capped off their season with a convincing win on senior night, defeating Lake Forest College, 59-48. Seniors Johanna McNair ’25 and Hadja Bayo ’25 led the charge and closed their careers each with a double-double. McNair recorded 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Bayo had 15 points and 13 rebounds of her own. Bayo also became fourth in all time in career blocks with 101.
  • Men’s basketball also concluded their season at home against Lake Forest over the weekend, where they dropped the close game, 82-77. Seniors Azeez Ganiyu ’24 and Ryan Nixon ’25 brought the largest contribution for the Bucs. Nixon had 19 points, while Ganiyu had a 24-point 18-rebound double-double.
  • Men’s lacrosse kicked off their season over the weekend with a home game against Hanover College. Despite a strong second half showing, the men’s team lost the game, 10-4.
  • Track and field competed over the weekend at the University of Chicago, where the men’s team placed third of 10 teams and the women’s placed fourth of 11. The single first place finish for the Bucs came from the men’s 4x400 relay team. They will compete in the Midwest Conference Championship this week.

Rafaella Pavarini de Souza ’25 is interning at First National Bank & Trust Co., where she supports the accounting team with tasks ranging from general ledger operations to process improvements, gaining insights into banking operations while enhancing her analytical skills.

Through chemical and visual analysis, Jack Collier ’24 is investigating the origins of ancient stone artifacts, offering a glimpse into the resource use and movement of early Wisconsin inhabitants.

Black Trans Feminism Reading Group

This year the Weissberg Chair Keynote will be Marquis Bey with “Caring to Be Free: A Black Trans Feminist Meditation.” Sign-up to join a book group, with the first 25 people who register and can attend the reading sessions receiving a copy of Black Trans Feminism.

Chelonia Costume Crew Needed

Help the dancers as they get ready and change into various costumes throughout the Chelonia shows, Feb. 25–March 2. Credit is available to those who take part. Those interested should contact Shelbi Wilkin at wilkins@beloit.edu.

1098-T Notice for Tax Year 2024

Beloit College has issued 1098-T’s for Tax Year 2024. All tax forms were mailed to the students’ home address on file or delivered electronically. Forms are available electronically if you have not received a mailed copy.
