Beloit adds men’s and women’s ice hockey

Beloit is supporting Northland College after its closure by bringing its ice hockey student-athletes and coaches to play as Buccaneers in the upcoming 2025-26 season, with a full schedule already planned.

A few Northland transfer students visited campus last week, and others will visit campus in the coming weeks. We are excited to welcome them into the Beloit community and see their first games in the fall.

Sports recap

  • Swimmer Lydia Nordgren ’28 and basketball player Azeez Ganiyu ’24 were honored by the Midwest Conference this last week for their successes this season. Nordgren was awarded Midwest Conference Newcomer of the Year for women’s swimming while Ganiyu was named Second Team All Midwest Conference.
  • Women’s lacrosse started their season off strong with a win at home against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 17-5. Senior Maya DeGeorge ’25 led the Bucs to victory with eight goals. They will host Hamline University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
  • Baseball got off to a hot start winning three games over the weekend. The Bucs defeated Augustana College, 5-2, Wisconsin Lutheran College, 18-4, and Northland College, 13-0.
  • Softball played a pair of games over the weekend. They took on the University of Wisconsin-Superior and Edgewood College, falling to both, 19-4 and 13-1.
  • Men’s and women’s track and field competed in the Midwest Conference Championships over the weekend. There were many standout finishes from the Bucs, including multiple podium finishes. The lone first place finish came from Joshua Martinez Marte ’27 in the shot put, with a throw of 14.40 meters.

Through field measurements and drone-based 3D modeling, Lila Ryter ’25 is analyzing fracture intensity within the Sevier Fault Zone in Orderville, Utah. Her work suggests that significant damage occurs early in fault propagation rather than throughout its lengthening.

Born and raised in a small farming village in Croatia, Silvija Martincevic ’02 came to Beloit College as an international student to study economics. She is now the CEO of Deputy, the industry-leading workforce management platform supporting over 1.5 million hourly workers and 375,000 workplaces globally.

Spring Break Shuttles

There is shuttle service to the Van Galder bus station at the start and end of spring break. Shuttles will run March 7-9 and 15-16. Please sign up for a time if you need transportation to the bus stop.

Register to use campus storage over summer

International students, as well as students studying abroad or who live more than 1000 miles from Beloit College, are eligible to use campus storage over the summer. Space is provided first come, first served, so please complete the storage interest form as soon as possible before March 28.
