Hello Beloiters! It’s another Admissions Visit Day, so please welcome students and families in your classes, on the sidewalks, and anywhere else you see them. It’s a great day to be a Beloiter!

Joe Davis to speak at commencement

Joe Davis ’10 will be the commencement speaker at our upcoming graduation ceremony. Now one of the most successful faces in sports broadcasting, Joe Davis got his start at Beloit, calling games for the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

The senior class officers work with the President’s office each year to select a speaker for the commencement ceremony. Learn more about Joe Davis and commencement.

Tomorrow is Election Day

If you are eligible and haven’t voted in the Wisconsin Spring Election already, walk over to First Congregational Church (801 Bushnell St.) from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. You can vote using your student ID, as long as it matches your legal name.

It’s movie time

Beloit International Film Festival 2025 is underway. Check out the schedule for any films you want to see, either on campus or in the city of Beloit. Student tickets are available for reduced prices, and there are two showings of particular interest to Beloiters:

  • April 4Beloit College Queer Shorts Film Festival, highlighting LGBTQ+ short films produced by filmmakers from across the world and curated by Beloit College students. Beloit College students can attend for free.
  • April 5 and 6The Dreams in Gary’s Basement, a documentary by Pat Kilbane ’90 detailing the creation of Dungeons & Dragons and the effect on its creator, Gary Gygax.

Sports recap

  • Baseball opened conference play with a three-game series against Cornell College, where they took two of the three games. The series was highlighted with senior ace Aiden Phipps ’25 picking up his 23rd career win, breaking the program’s all time win record. The baseball team will host Lawrence in the third game of their series on Sunday at 12 p.m.
  • Softball swept Alverno College in a midweek doubleheader, 6-5 and 13-5. Sophomore catcher Allison Olson ’27 blasted her first career home run, which ended up as the winning insurance run in game one.
  • Women’s lacrosse held their home NACC opener against Lawrence University, where the Bucs dominated in a 17-5 win. Seniors Maya DeGeorge ’25 and Johanna McNair ’25 scored seven and six goals in the contest. The team will host Concordia University (Wis.) at home on Saturday at 4 p.m.
  • Men’s lacrosse played in two NACC games this week against Lawrence University and Aurora University. Despite losing both, goalkeeper Eric Seo ’25 had 23 combined saves in the two games. The team will host two home games this week on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.

Renowned behavioral neuroscientist Kelly Lambert spent a multi-day residency at Beloit College as Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar, engaging with the community on her research on mental health and resiliency.

Buccaneers in the community

The Beloit College football team volunteered with the local Boys and Girls Club. The team split up to play games, make arts & crafts, prepare snacks, and shoot some hoops with the children.
