Spring is here, and final exams

Students throw colorful powders on each other in a Holi celebration at Spring Day 2025.Students enjoyed the (mostly) fine weather and (many) activities last week on Spring Day, including treats, volleyball, inflatables, Henna, music, caricatures, Atlatl, boba tea, and a Holi celebration with colorful powders.

Hello Beloiters! The last week of classes is here, and with it all the studying, paper writing, and hard work that comes with it. But it also comes with support and celebrations, so be sure you make some time for joy!

Preparing for exams

After classes end on Wednesday, get into the final-exam mindset with events designed to make these days more successful (and a little fun):

Also, take advantage of the two study days in the schedule to prepare for your final exams:

  • Thursday is a study day, with exams on Friday and Saturday.
  • Next week, Sunday is a study day, with exams on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Non-seniors are expected to move out on Wednesday next week.

Buccaneers, then and now

Then: Did you know that Beloit College almost lost the Buccaneer after a lawsuit was threatened in the 1990s? But after a challenge to play a football game against us for the rights to the Buccaneer, an NFL team stood down.

Now: You can celebrate our Buccaneers this week down at Strong Stadium on Saturday, May 3 starting at noon for Softball and Baseball double-headers. Come down to the stadium to cheer on the Buccaneers, and enjoy treats, games, and t-shirt giveaways.

Sports recap

  • Softball swept a Sunday double header against Ripon College to go 2-2 over the weekend. The offense was powered by strong performances from Kaylee Witte ’27 and Allie Gustafson ’28, who each blasted a homerun and combined for nine hits and nine runs batted in. The Bucs sit in fifth at 7-7, as they look to make a push for a playoff spot with a Senior Day double header against Lawrence starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Women’s lacrosse punched their second straight bid into the NACC tournament, after making it to the finals last year. They faced off against the three seeded Edgewood College, who they lost to in a 11-7 game. This capped off another great season for the Bucs, with another playoff bid and two players hitting 100 career goals.
  • Baseball swept Knox College in a weekday double header, before taking one of three against Monmouth College. The Bucs were highlighted by Jack Alport ’26 and Connor Vogel ’25, who each blasted two home runs, and Ben Schweit’s ’27 with eight innings pitched, zero earned runs, and ten strikeouts. They will host a Saturday double header and a single game Sunday against Illinois College, both starting at 12 p.m.
  • Track and field (men’s and women’s) competed in the SNC Invite over the weekend and saw multiple victories. Joshua Yearby ’27 won the 100 M, 10.84, Simone de Montigny ’26 placed first in the 3000 M, 11:41.60, and the men’s 4x400 Meter Relay team took the top step of the podium, 3:23.17.
  • Men’s lacrosse concluded their season with a road game against Edgewood College. The Bucs dropped the game 23-6. They saw two goals each from Liam Walker ’26 and Will Palmer ’25.
