Beloit College stands for higher education

President Boynton joins higher education leaders in calling for “constructive engagement.”

Beloit College President Eric Boynton has joined with 200 other college presidents who are standing up for higher education against recent unprecedented government overreach and political interference impacting American higher education.

The American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) has united leaders in higher education to collectively affirm the vital role colleges and universities play in advancing the well-being of the United States and its people.

“Education at Beloit College is a transformative journey,” says President Boynton. “Here, as at many institutions across the country, we prepare students to lead in their communities and play a meaningful role in shaping a more prosperous society.”

The public statement, which describes the benefits of higher education and the variety of institutions in the country, declares the shared commitment of all of these institutions to “serve as centers of open inquiry where in their pursuit of truth, faculty, students, and staff are free to exchange ideas and opinions across a full range of viewpoints without fear of retribution, censorship, or deportation.”
