Description / Biography
The courses I teach include Principles of Economics and Quantitative Methods. Before joining Beloit College, I taught Principles at the University of Tennessee - Martin and Marquette University, as well as Intermediate Micro and Macro at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. I enjoy introducing students to economic methods and I encourage them to relate these ideas to their daily life.
My primary research interests are in Personnel Economics and in Education Economics. Specifically, my work examines the determinants and consequences of performance-related pay. My work also looks at how unique individual circumstances affect the returns to education. For example, I am currently working on a project with the WI Dept. of Corrections that examines how local labor market conditions affect the return to prison training programs.
