Description / Biography

Nathan Osterberger joined Beloit College in 2023 and currently serves as the Associate Vice President of Facilities. Since joining the college, the primary focus of the facilities team has been to improve the way students, faculty, staff, and visitors experience Beloit’s historic campus.

Prior to joining the college Nathan earned a B.A. in Business Management with a concentration in Economics from Loras College. He is also a graduate of NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC. Graduating at the top of his class he was recruited by Porsche Cars of North America and accepted into their engineering technology apprenticeship program located outside of Atlanta, Georgia. His career in the automotive industry grew from a certified Porsche expert technician and ASE Certified Master Technician, to a technical instructor and curriculum designer for Audi of America which lead him to a stint in manufacturing as a LEAN program quality manager for Chryslers’ Belvidere assembly plant in Illinois. Senior leadership at Chrysler corporation and the local UAW 1268 formally recognized Nathan multiple times for outstanding performance reducing factory downtime, eliminating financial waste, and improving both product quality and workstation safety.

Seeking a new challenge Nathan chose to take an opportunity in the healthcare industry accepting a supervisory position with SSM Health which ultimately lead him to SwedishAmerican Health System in Rockford, IL where he served as the Director of facility engineering, biomedical engineering, safety officer, telecommunications, and the chair of the Life Safety and Environment of Care committees. He was responsible for system accreditation compliance and the safe, efficient operation of two hospitals and over forty clinics throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Nathan also played a key role with the project management team that constructed the $40M, Women’s and Children’s Hospital and level III NICU that now serves the greater Rockford, IL metro area.

Nathan is thrilled to have found a home with Beloit College and looks forward to building upon the almost 200-year-old history of the institution. Since joining the college, he has worked on teams that have delivered on President Boynton’s vision. Successful completion of over $20M worth of investments in the student experience include the renovations of; Robert H. Morse Library, Whitney Hall dormitory, commons food service upgrades at Hamiltons in the Powerhouse, School of Business and D.K.’s dining located in Pearsons Hall, and upgrades for the School of Media & the Arts located at the Hendricks Center. Nathan is excited to share Beloit College is currently planning the next round of campus improvements that ensure Beloit College remains a leader in education and student experience.

Outside of work Nathan enjoys spending time with his family and two dogs.
