Online Courses (2024)
Online classes offer the live interaction of a traditional class and opportunities to engage with other participants. Join us online and enjoy greater flexibility and convenience, all while building your knowledge and professional network.
In-Person Courses (2024)
Seventeen in-person courses will be offered 2024. The full in-person course scheduled will be posted in October, so check back to get a head start on planning your professional development.
Course Levels
Center for Collections Care courses meet beginner, intermediate, and advanced training needs. Each class is identified as either Level 1, 2, or 3. Level 1 knowledge and skills are expected of those applying for intermediate and advanced level courses.
- Beginner (Level 1): basic understanding of agents of deterioration, preventive care, and object handling; ideal for emerging professionals or those with no formal training.
- Intermediate (Level 2): performs preventive care tasks (collection housing, environmental monitoring, labeling, packing/moving/transport, condition reporting/survey, pest management, object photography, emergency preparedness and disaster recovery, exhibit preparation, surface cleaning, etc.); ideal for practicing professionals in need of new knowledge and skills.
- Advanced (Level 3): performs stabilization techniques/treatments (paper repair, adhesive removal, textile stabilization, instrumental analysis, etc.); ideal for advanced professionals who want to build on a foundation of intermediate-level knowledge and training.
