Self-Designed Integrative Learning Majors and Minors

Combine blocks to create your own curriculum.

Students collaborate on a class project in the soft light of the Sanger Center for the Sciences Atrium.

If you’re someone who likes to cut your own pathway, consider building your own major or minor from blocks. Or choose from our pre-designed cross-disciplinary majors, like Critical Identity Studies, Worldbuilding, or Community Organizing.

Proposing a major or minor

The process is simple. Create a major or minor that captures your area of interest by assembling existing blocks (and, if you wish, existing minors) according to the instructions on the proposal forms linked below. Then give it a name that will convey your education to others and submit a proposal for review.

Design a major or minor from scratch

If existing blocks and minors don’t capture the path you want to take, you can also design a major or minor from scratch. You’ll find further details on the proposal and approval process in the Interdisciplinary Studies program
