What is Health and Society?
Health and society is an interdisciplinary field that explores how health is shaped by biological, social, cultural, economic, and political forces. It examines questions such as why certain communities experience higher rates of illness, how cultural beliefs influence the way people understand disease, how health-care systems function, and what factors contribute to wellbeing across different populations.
Students learn to analyze health through the natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. This combination helps you understand health as both a physical and a social experience, and it prepares you to think critically about the connections between people, communities, and the conditions that support healthy lives.
