What is French and Francophone Studies?

French and Francophone studies is the exploration of language as a way of understanding the world. You build your speaking, writing, listening, and reading skills while engaging with the cultures, histories, and creative expressions of French-speaking communities across Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, Canada, and beyond. You analyze, interpret, and compare how different societies construct meaning, using literature, film, and media. The program emphasizes active learning, collaboration, and challenging experiences that strengthen your confidence, cultural agility, and global perspective.
