She attended University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where she obtained her bachelors in Social Work. She then returned two years later to obtain her Masters through George Williams College of Aurora University with a school social work degree.
In all the many jobs Alma has had, she has worked with the diverse population of non-profit agencies until she went to work for Harlem High School as a Student Mentor. After three short years there, her position was eliminated due to budget cuts and she realized she needed the time off.
While off from working, she spent the first year with her daughter prior to joining the Help Yourself family. Alma has two daughters - a college senior and a seven-year-old. She enjoys watching her older daughter play softball and dance, as well as just enjoying her little one. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, crafting, and just relaxing.
