Pronouns: She/Her/Hers Email: drapert@beloit.edu Phone: 608-363-2246 Schedule an Appointment Office: 208, Morse LibraryIn my role as Student Success & Engagement Librarian, I support the teaching, learning, and research of students, faculty, and staff. Using my experience from working in academic, public, and rare books libraries, I help students develop information literacy skills for classwork, research, and everyday life. My research focuses on accessible instructional technology and gamifying library instruction and outreach.
I have recently led class discussions on:
- Getting started with academic research
- Evaluating sources
- Navigating and accessing library resources
- Citation management & citation justice
- Creating zines
- Intellectual freedom
I am a co-host of the podcast Librarians Spill the Tea, which discusses scholarly drama and research ethics. I am also a member of the 2025 Class of American Library Association Emerging Leaders. In this role, I work with the ALA Office for Intellectual Freedom and the Intellectual Freedom Round Table to study intellectual freedom instruction in ALA and AASL-accredited Master’s programs. Currently, I am the Chair of the Wisconsin Association of Academic Librarians.
I spend my free time playing Dungeons & Dragons and board games, knitting an array of silly animals, and reading graphic novels.
