Weissberg residency focuses on LGBTQ+ care

This week Beloit College welcomes Marquis Bey as our Weissberg Chair. Marquis Bey’s residency includes class visits, lunch events, and a keynote address on Thursday. Mark your calendars!

Planning for next semester with your advisor

The formal advising period starts this week! Make an appointment with your advisor(s) now to make your plans for next fall. Online registration for the fall semester will start Tuesday, April 8.

BIFF launches Friday

The Beloit International Film Festival launches on Friday, with film showings in the Powerhouse, Hendricks Center for the Arts, and other locations in the city of Beloit. Showings go through April 6, and reduced price student tickets are available. Feel free to get your tickets to attend, or just welcome cinema-goers to campus.

Sports recap

  • Baseball took two from Carroll University in their home opener this weekend, 4-3 and 13-6. Beloit ended the first game with a walk-off walk in the first game of the double header and recorded 16 hits in the second. Ace Aiden Phipps ’25 had a great start, throwing six and a third innings, recording seven strikeouts, and zero runs given up. The team opens conference play this weekend with a home game on Sunday against Cornell College at 12 p.m.
  • Softball played a pair of double headers on Friday and Saturday against Rockford University and Elmhurst University. Senior Angela Donath ’25 recorded seven hits and six runs batted in over the four games. The team will host two home double headers this week, on Wednesday (first game at 3 p.m.) and Sunday (first game at 12 noon).
  • Men’s lacrosse played two games this last week, the first against the Illinois Institute of Technology and the second against Lake Forest College. They dropped both games, 19-2 and 17-7.

AJ Mrotek ’25 developed a finance application, among other work, during a summer internship at International, a North American truck manufacturer. “This internship was a great experience and has prepared me for a future career in IT,” AJ said.

Your worst date as a musical

Sixteen students display their gator nails with the cast of Trapped in a Musical at the world renowned iO Improv Theatre.

After improvising their way through Chicago traffic, students from the Improvisation for Theatre class laughed along with the work of professional performers. Based on a disastrous Everglades date told by Trevor Cisneros ’28, one of the acts crafted a hilarious musical adventure filled with love, gators, and painted nails.

Student Satisfaction Survey is live!

Students have until April 20 to answer the HEDS Student Satisfaction Survey, which asks for student input about their college experience. Students can respond to the survey by clicking the individualized link they received by email from BeloitCollege@hedsconsortium.org.

Complete the FAFSA to renew your aid

Students: it’s time to file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for the coming year. If you haven’t done it already, make sure you do – it’s the process that you need to do every year to maintain your financial support for the next year.

Register to use campus storage over summer

International students, as well as students studying abroad or who live more than 1000 miles from Beloit College, are eligible to use campus storage over the summer. Space is provided first come, first served, so please complete the storage interest form as soon as possible before March 28.
