January 26 - February 1 Come in from the cold Students braved the subzero temperatures on Friday to enjoy a walk to Pearsons Hall with blue skies and sparkling snow.Hello Beloiters! With temperatures below zero, find your perfect place on campus to come in from the cold. We have a few suggestions! Learn about performance, or step onstage yourself Ferrall Artist-in-Residence Gabriel Bruno Eng Gonzalez ’20 is a choreographer who draws from dance, performance theory, and speculative fiction. Listen to Gonzalez deliver “Choreographing the Screen: A Toolkit for Post Internet Dance Making” at the Weissberg Auditorium on Friday or join the action by auditioning to be a part of the piece that Gonzalez will create this semester on campus. No dance experience is necessary to audition – just an interest in dance, media, digital performance, or trying something new. Come along, and bring a friend!
Hit the stands for a home game, or get in the gym yourself Rather do your own thing? The Powerhouse has fitness classes Monday to Thursday every week, and is open for you to work out on your own, too. Sports Recap Women’s Basketball displayed strong performances against Cornell College, a game that saw Hailey Johnson ’26 and Kaitlin Davis ’27 record double doubles. Johnson was the lead scorer for Beloit College with 15 points, while Julia Kennedy ’28 led the game in steals with four. Men’s Basketball battled against Lawrence, with Anthony Carter ’27 leading the charge, scoring 18 points and three 3-pointers. Will Schubert ’28 came off the bench for an impressive eight points in just 14 minutes. Men’s Hockey started off the week with a convincing 5-0 win against Hiram College, combining offense with a shutout from goaltender Mitch Taylor ’27, his first as a Buc. At UW-Eau Claire, Max Von Klinggraeff ’29 notched two goals in a close defensive showdown. Women’s Hockey played their final home game of the season against UW-River Falls, celebrating its first graduating senior, Zoey Soost ’27, who made 49 saves against a strong UW-River Falls offense. In the second period, Addison Gruhlke ’29 found the net, denying the Falcons a shutout. Track and Field earned multiple podium finishes at the UW-Whitewater meet. In track events, Josh Yearby ’27 won a silver medal in the 60-yard dash and Nate Otis ’26 placed third in the 400-meter. In the field events, thrower Joshua Martinez ’27 claimed second place in the shot put with a distance of 14.46m. In the relays, Beloit earned first place in the 4x200, beating Judson University by one second. |
