Lisa Hasenyager’05 YAA

“She is literally saving lives through her work.”

2015 Young Alumni Award

In only 10 years since her graduation, Lisa Hasenyager has challenged herself, served others, accomplished a great deal, and smiled her way through a post-Beloit College world.

She is literally saving lives through her work. Lisa has raised funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and for the last seven years has dedicated her time to making donor transplants possible. As a Medical Review Coordinator for SightLife in Seattle, Wash., she ensures the safety of donor tissue and provides a warm, caring, honest voice to families throughout the process. Not surprisingly, her positive approach extends to the people she works with as well as her clients. She has been instrumental in fostering an encouraging environment for her co-workers and ensuring proper work-life balance for a division that is available 24/7.

Even before Lisa graduated from Beloit College in 2005 with a degree in sociology, her leadership skills were already apparent. She lent a compassionate and trustworthy ear to fellow students as a Resident Assistant and was a member of the Kappa Gamma Lambda sorority on campus (known presently as Kappa Delta). Charles Westerberg’94, one of her sociology professors, said that she was as vivacious and energetic then as she is now. “She could light up the room and, on the strength of her personality, advance the level of engagement for entire courses,” he says. “Lisa was a consistent, positive force in and beyond the classroom. No one could ever doubt her sincerity and conscientiousness as an agent of constructive change.”

Lisa has continued to serve her community in a variety of roles, including coaching for Girls on the Run, coordinating volunteers for Bold Hat Productions—an organization that builds community through events, providing leadership in education and membership for her local Toastmasters, and most recently sharing her time and talent with New Horizons, a shelter for at-risk youth. As an active force in the alumni community, Lisa has hosted numerous college events and was a member of the Beloit College Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2009-2012.

The Beloit College Alumni Association is pleased to honor Lisa Hasenyager with the Young Alumni Award for her leadership, positive attitude and dedication to serving her community and the world.
