Thomas O’Neill’83 DSC

Thomas has been a committed supporter and volunteer, setting high standards for all of those who claim dedication to this College.

In the essay accompanying his application to Beloit College, Tom O’Neill wrote that you must be “willing to work hard for what you want.” Fortunately for us, Beloit’s success and advancement are things that Tom has been committed to since graduating in the Class of 1983. Whether as quarterback for the Buccaneer football team, or in his diverse areas of responsibility as he rose to Executive Vice President of Marshall and Ilsley Bank, or in his competitive-level cycling, or training of his English setters for hunting, he brings a natural energy and intensity to all that he does. As a trustee of Beloit College, he has applied his skills to the demands and complexity of the governance of the College, adding enthusiasm and confidence to the board and to all with whom he works at the College. Serving on the host committee for the Golden Jubilee of Professor of Music Eudora Shepherd, or honoring Emil Kreider and his mentors in the economics department, or enhancing the future of football at Beloit, he has been a committed supporter and volunteer, setting high standards for all of those who claim dedication to this College. The Beloit Alumni Association is proud to honor him on the occasion of his 25th reunion by conferring upon him its highest award, the Beloit College Distinguished Service Citation.
