Electronics Engineer – Inventor

Your outstanding career in the high technology communications field has its roots on this campus. Here, under the tutelage of Professors Suydam and Huffer, you gained the fundamental education in physics, mathematics and chemistry that formed a solid base for later training in science and engineering. An inventor who has published more than 40 papers, contributed sections to professional books and presented lectures at international symposia and foreign universities, you worked with complex radar and automatic navigation equipment during World War II and then designed electronic systems for national defense and for nationwide commercial and global military communication. During the past 13 years of your three-decade career with Bell Laboratories, you have been responsible for designing various portions of a digital switching system; as head of the project management and applications department, you also direct the planning, engineering and integration of all its domestic and export uses. Your Alma Mater proudly recognizes your scientific achievements by awarding you this citation as your Class returns to Beloit to observe its 40^th Reunion.
