F. Caleb Blodgett’50 DSC

Above all, you have provided generous dividends for your Beloit educational experience through dedicated and exemplary service as a member of the College Board of Trustees for 14 years.

1990 Distinguished Service Citation

You, your family and the city of Beloit – and therefore Beloit College – have a unique relationship, for your great-great-great grandfather, Caleb Blodgett, is credited with being the community’s first permanent settler in 1836. You yourself are a third generation Beloit College alumnus whose career experience was first as an officer of the family-operated milling business in Janesville, then for the past three decades as a major executive with the internationally known General Mills Company in Minneapolis. Your expertise and leadership in the food operations area formed the foundation for advancement from marketing management duties to the position of vice chairman of the board and chief financial and administrative officer, responsibilities you have held since 1985. Although you’ve been a board member of other major companies and an official with such prominent food-industry organizations and the Cereal Institute and Nutrition Foundation, you’ve also devoted your energies to volunteer leadership, serving as trustee of a child guidance center and a director of the U. S. Chamber of Commerce and in other key civic, business and professional agencies. Above all, you have provided generous dividends for your Beloit educational experience through dedicated and exemplary service as a member of the College Board of Trustees for 14 years. Your Alma Mater proudly acknowledges your significant achievements and demonstrated commitment to higher education by awarding you this Distinguished Service Citation on the occasion of your 40th Class Reunion.
