1962 Distinguished Service Citation

Professor – Author – Church Leader

For thirty-eight years you taught the principles of government and citizenship with great distinction to the men of Dartmouth College. Your fame as a teacher reached the opposite end of our country where, since your retirement at Dartmouth, you have taught at Pomona and at nearby Scripps College. You have taught by example as well as precept, serving New Hampshire in several governmental capacities and serving the ministry as interim and supply minister in New England Congregational churches. Your books on politics and government have been widely recognized, and now, as you return to join your classmates of fifty years ago, Beloit College is proud to present you this Distinguished Service Citation.
