Businessman – Legislator – Youth Worker
Your many-faceted career has brought you well-deserved recognition from many publics. After earning a B.A. in Political Science at Beloit, you went on to secure a J.J.D. from the University of Chicago. Your business career has included the practice of law, banking, real estate, and farming. You have served three terms in the South Dakota Senate and one in the state’s House of Representatives; you have enlisted three times in the armed forces of the United States; you have been on national committees of the American Legion. Your achievements as a citizen have inspired your adoption by the Dakota Sioux Tribe. Active in many civic endeavors, you have found time to serve as chairman of the Advisory Committee of the South Dakota Service to the Blind and Visually Handicapped since the program began 25 years ago and as an advisor to the National Rivers and Harbors Congress. Long a sponsor of sports for youth, you were recognized as “Volunteer Worker of the Month” by the National Pop Warner Headquarters in 1962. In testimony of your enthusiastic life of service and your profound loyalty to our College, to your classmates, and to all you associate with, Beloit is delighted to present you with this Distinguished Service Citation.
