Leavitt Randall Barker’1915 DSC
Attorney – Trustee
The outstanding academic and extracurricular records you compiled while a student at Beloit forecast your long life of leadership and service to your fellow man. A Phi Beta Kappa scholar who also excelled as a student editor, debater and wrestler, you this year observe the 50th anniversary of your association with a prominent Minneapolis legal firm as a trial lawyer, partner and consultant. Your professional colleagues have honored you many times by elevating you to high-ranking positions in county, state and national bar association affairs. At the same time, you have given freely of your wisdom and energies to your Alma Mate during 21 years as an active Trustee and, since 1964, as a Life Trustee. Your interest in the current generation of students and the promise they offer the nation was illustrated most recently by the support you raised for the new “College Community” system of governance as a valuable educational experience for young adults. Because of your great mental acumen so faithfully husbanded by you, and because of your wisdom, compassion and humanistic sense, your Alma Mater is honored to confer upon you this Distinguished Service Citation.
