Charles C. Donovan’1929 DSC
1979 Distinguished Service Citation
Your impressive career in the world of finance began soon after your graduation from Beloit when you entered the mortgage banking and real estate firm established by your father. Before enrolling in the University of Chicago Law School four years later, you gained additional business experience by managing a small state-chartered savings and loan association. It was during your law school days that you organized Prairie Federal Savings and Loan Association – with initial assets of $5100. Today, that enterprise of which you are chairman and general counsel is a $153 million firm with six offices in the Chicago area. You have been president of the Illinois Savings and Loan League, a board member of the U.S. League and a director of the Federal Home Loan Bank system. You have served your community of Chicago Heights as president of the Board of Realtors, the Community Fund, the Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary Club. You also have chaired the Bloom Township Board of Education. Your Alma Mater proudly awards you this Distinguished Service Citation on the occasion of your 50th Class Reunion.
