Professor – Metallurgist

There was little doubt in your mind when you entered Beloit that your future was in engineering. Your hours in Pearsons Hall as a chemistry major provided the base for study at Cornell University, where you took your master of science and doctor of philosophy degrees. A member of Ohio State University’s faculty for 23 years, you are a specialist in cast metals and foundry science in its Department of Metallurgical Engineering. Developer of one of the nation’s best-equipped university foundry laboratories, you have published 56 articles and twice have won the best-paper award from an American Foundrymen’s Society division. Honors for work with students have come your way, too. You received the 1965 Alfred J. Wright Award for significant service to organized student activities and for guidance and counsel in developing effective student leadership. As first recipient of the George C. Hays Award last year, you were cited by the American Society for Engineering Education as the outstanding faculty advisor of a student engineering magazine. In recognition of your outstanding achievements in the service of higher education, your Alma Mater proudly presents to you this Distinguished Service Citation.
