Doris Hubbard Platt’1935 DSC

A whole generation of young people is growing up in this state, more knowledgeable and appreciative of their heritage because of your efforts.

1965 Distinguished Service Citation

Historian – Teacher

In your position with the State Historical Society of Wisconsin you are doing much to increase the appreciation of people of Wisconsin, and especially young people, to the rich heritage of the state you adopted when you enrolled at Beloit College thirty-four years ago. Daughter of distinguished Beloit alumni, you have added to the lustre of the family name. After winning academic honors at Beloit, you pursued your studies to the doctorate at the University of Wisconsin. You joined the staff of the historical society in 1948 and for many years devoted your efforts to young people, at the same time editing many of the society’s justly famous publications. You now have entered the wider field of radio and television, coordinating activities of the Society in those media of communication. A whole generation of young people is growing up in this state, more knowledgeable and appreciative of their heritage because of your efforts. As you return to campus for the Thirtieth Anniversary of your class, Beloit College and its Alumni are pleased to recognize your accomplishments with this Distinguished Service Citation.
