You have successfully developed the early promise you displayed as the valedictorian of Beloit High School’s Class of 1934 to earn distinction in the fields of economic planning and financial management over the past three decades. A faculty member at the University of Wisconsin since 1945, you have served as director of its Bureau of Business Research, chairman of the Graduate School of Business Finance Department and head of fiscal and budgetary research. You also have authored three major books on business administration and worked as financial secretary for Governor Thompson, fiscal-budget analyst for the state legislature and gubernatorial adviser on tax impact, industrial development and income tax simplification. Recipient of M.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan, you have complemented graduate school teaching with public service benefitting retarded citizens, residential facilities development, the Menominee Indian Trust and Credit Union activity. In testimony to your dedication to high standards of scholarship and your professional achievements, Beloit College proudly awards you this Citation during your 40th Reunion celebration.
