Tom Mullaney’61 DSC

Tom’s dedication to public service and philanthropy has extended to Beloit, where he has shared his time and talent through Team New York, Campaign Leadership, and the Beloit Career Network.

2001 Distinguished Service Citation

Thomas Mullaney attributes the strong interest he developed in economics at Beloit College to his involvement in the investment world ever since.

After graduating from Beloit, Tom held the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship at Northwestern University and pursued his Master of Arts in economics, then served three years in the U.S. Navy, earning the ranking of Lieutenant junior grade. Tom started his career by joining First National Bank of Chicago, serving as vice president while simultaneously pursuing his M.B.A. in finance from the University of Chicago.

In 1977, he managed investment activities in both Connecticut and Maine as executive vice president of Shawmut Banks. In 1994, he founded and became president of Mullaney, Keating, & Wright, Inc., a company that Wealth Manager magazine ranked as a top advisory firm.

Active in civic organizations, Tom was a director of St. Francis Hospital and continues to serve on its finance committee. He is also past president of The 1982 Club, former chair of Capitol Housing Corporation, and has served as a director of the Greater Hartford Chamber of Commerce. He was vice chairman of the Connecticut Development Authority, and has served on the Connecticut Public Expenditure Council. Tom is on the finance committee of the American School for the Deaf and is a Fellow of the American Leadership Forum. He is also immediate past chairman of Riverfront Recapture — an effort that has transformed the Connecticut riverfront area in Hartford into a tremendous source of pride and beauty for the community. Tom’s dedication to public service and philanthropy has extended to Beloit, where he has shared his time and talent through Team New York, Campaign Leadership, and the Beloit Career Network.

Thomas Mullaney’s achievements bring honor to Beloit College, and we are pleased, in turn, to honor him with the Beloit College Alumni Association’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Citation.
