On this page, we’ve collected information specific to International Students and Exchange Students; both additional requirements and exceptions to requirements.

Information for International Students:

Accessing Your Beloit Email:

You’ll be notified when it is time to set up your Beloit College email account. In certain countries, students may have trouble accessing their Beloit College email account without a VPN. If you are unable to access your email account, please notify admissions and provide them with a preferred summer contact email address to receive important communications.

Summer Orientation:

Please note that Summer Orientation is offered entirely online through a combination of webinars, meetings, and pre-recorded videos. A morning and evening (in U.S. Central Time) version of each session will be offered to try to accommodate time zones from around the world. We encourage you to attend sessions live if possible, but recordings will be offered within 24 hours if you cannot attend.

Health Insurance:

To ensure adequate medical and mental health care in the United States, international students are automatically enrolled Beloit’s Wellfleet student health insurance. The cost for this insurance was included in the tuition and fees outlined in your financial aid offer.

Travel, Move-In, International Orientation, and New Student Days:

Aug. 15 — International Student Move-In
Aug. 15-19 — International Student Orientation
Aug. 20-24 — New Student Days
Aug. 25 — Convocation and First Day of Classes

All new international students should plan to arrive to Beloit’s campus on August 15. We know there aren’t always numerous options for international flights, but if possible, please try to arrive on campus during daylight hours.

The recommended airport for international travel is Chicago O’Hare (ORD). Students arriving at O’Hare can take the Van Galder bus to South Beloit, IL and shuttle service is offered from the bus stop at the beginning and end of term.

As soon as you have secured flights, please submit your travel information on your Applicant Status Page so we can prepare for your arrival. We strongly encourage you to have your travel arranged by August 1 if not sooner.

We will share additional information on getting to campus by email in August.

International Student Orientation is an important step in making the most of your experience at Beloit College. Prior to the start of the semester, we gather students together who come to the college from outside the United States to connect with each other, get to know Beloit, and begin to acclimate to a new culture. It’s an important time to connect with classmates and settle into your new college home. All new international students are expected to participate fully in the entire orientation program.

International Orientation will include a variety of events and activities. You’ll learn about many of the resources at the college and meet staff from various offices and departments. Session topics will include immigration information, cultural adjustment, academic strategies and more. We’ll also explore the community, eat together, and have some fun. Of course, you’ll have lots of opportunities to ask questions.

After International Orientation, you’ll participate in New Student Days, the orientation program for all new students. You’ll meet your classmates from around the United States and prepare for the semester together.

Your International Advisor:

In addition to your Advanced Mentoring Program (AMP) Faculty Advisor, you also have the support of the International Student Services team. Don’t hesitate to be in touch with questions.

Information for Exchange Students:

Please review all the information on this page carefully as it applies to both international and exchange students.

Advising and Registration:

All exchange students are automatically assigned to an Exchange Faculty Advisor. You’ll meet with your Exchange Advisor and a group of fellow exchange students during International Orientation and New Student Days. Your Exchange Advisor is an expert on the curriculum and course registration process specific to the exchange experience, and you’ll be part of a strong exchange student community.

Submission of the AMP Advisor Matching Quiz is not required.
