Investigate the mind

What is Cognitive Science?

Cognitive science is the interdisciplinary study of the mind and intelligent behavior. It draws on psychology, computer science, philosophy, neuroscience, linguistics, and anthropology to explore how humans think, learn, perceive, solve problems, and interact with the world. Students investigate questions about reasoning, language, decision-making, consciousness, artificial intelligence, and the relationship between brains and machines.

The cognitive science minor gives you a structured way to study the mind from multiple perspectives without committing to a full major. You learn how different fields approach shared questions about cognition and gain analytical, scientific, and conceptual tools that complement almost any major.

Why study Cognitive Science?

Cognitive science equips you with a unique blend of technical, scientific, and humanistic skills that employers and graduate programs value. You learn how to analyze behavior, interpret data, reason logically, evaluate arguments, and think critically about mental processes. These skills are relevant to careers in technology, research, mental health, user experience, education, law, design, and many other fields that require insight into how people think and learn.

Cognitive science strengthens your major because it connects many disciplines while expanding your ability to tackle complex problems from multiple angles.
