Ellen Malsch Memorial Prize in Art
This prize is awarded annually at the Senior Studio Art Exhibition to the student whose body of work in any medium as presented in the show is judged by the faculty to best represent Ellen Malsch’s idea of artistic endeavor: “Art must extend a person’s mind and vision beyond what he already knows – henceforth the ever ongoing quest of the artist — to seek, discover, invent, manipulate, formulate, and bring forth new symbols and new statements.” The prize was established in 2001 by Rondi Cox and her husband, Ron, in memory of her mother, Ellen Malsch, an accomplished painter who had a studio in Beloit.
