Grace and Laurence Ousley Award for Diversity and Inclusion

The Ousley siblings dedicated their lives to the betterment of the Beloit community despite the racism and prejudice they faced. In 1904, Grace became the first African-American woman to graduate from Beloit College. Laurence, although unable to graduate from the college, worked in the community until his death and bequeathed his entire estate to the college. This award, granted to two students from historically underrepresented groups dedicated to using their education to advance social justice at the college and/or in the city of Beloit, honors the legacy of Grace and Laurence Ousley.

Recipients: Damila Hurn, Gisela Uribe
