Jane Quisenberry & W. Willard Wirtz Prize for Public Service

This prize, awarded to students who distinguish themselves by high ideals, excellence, and exemplary service to the Beloit community, was established in 1986 by the sons of Jane Quisenberry, class of 1935, and W. Willard Wirtz, class of 1933, to honor their parents’ distinguished careers in public service. Jane Quisenberry, a college trustee, held prominent positions in organizations promoting humanitarian causes, including the President’s Committee on Employment of the Handicapped and Goodwill Industries of America. Willard Wirtz pursued a career in law and labor relations and served as undersecretary and secretary of labor under U.S. Presidents Kennedy and Johnson.
